Signs and symptoms commonly seen during a behavioral emergency may present with a rapid onset and include:
o Emotional reactions such as panic, anxiety, fear, agitation, depression, withdrawal, confusion and anger.
o Unusual appearance.
o Unusual speech patterns.
o Abnormal or bizarre behavior or thought patterns. o Loss of contact with reality.
o Aggressive behavior including threats or intent to harm self or others.
o Certain odors on the person’s breath, such as alcohol.
o Pupils that are dilated, constricted or that react unequally.
o Excess salivation.
o Loss of bladder control.
o Visual hallucinations.
