Birth order factors
the spacing in years between siblings; the total number of children; and the changing circumstances of the parents over time.

Concept of power at a young age, expressed in their desire to help, protect and lead others/authoritarian & strict due to a fear of losing the top position
middle born (Adler birth order)
Sense of not belonging/ They fight to receive attention from parents/ avoid conflict
youngest child (Adler birth order)
“Pampering” can lead to dependence, and selfishness and irresponsibility

no rivals for their parents’ affection/ may be pampered and spoiled by their parents/ could cause later interpersonal difficulties
twins (Adler birth order)
tend to have a dominant twin/ tend to be more confident and get lonely easily due to closeness
neurotic personality
feel inferiority and compensate/ have social interest/ help each other/ community feeling
the ruling type
dominant/ most energetic are bullies and sadists but less energetic ones hurt others by hurting themselves (e.g. drug addicts)
the avoiding type
have the lowest levels of energy and only survive by essentially avoiding life and people/ when pushed to limits they retreat into own personal worlds
the getting/ leaning type
shell around themselves to protect themselves, rely on others to carry them through life’s difficulties/ have low energy levels / when overwhelmed develop phobias, obsessions, anxeity..etc.
the socially useful type
healthy person, has both social interest and energy/ believe in doing good for the sake of society. They also believe they have control over their lives.
