A

Delusional misidentification syndrome: person known to patient has been replaced by an exact double.
Diagnosis usually schizophrenia, depression or organic disorder.

A

Psychotic delusional misidentification syndrome: strangers are patient’s persecutors in disguise.

What is Ekbom’s syndrome?

A

Psychotic delusional syndrome: delusional parasitosis. Delusion of infestations, usually diagnosis of depression or schizophrenia. F>M. Often visualise the bugs, and feel dermal sensations (hallucinations)

What is De Clerambault’s syndrome?

A

Delusion of being object of love (psychotic syndrome). F>M. May occur in isolation, affective disorder (manic) or schizophrenia. Pt makes inappropriate advances and gets angry when rejected. Treat underlying condition, antipsychotics may be useful.
