Oncholysis (lifting of nail from nail bed)
Nail pitting
Nail dystophy (brittle nails)
Subungal hyperkeratosis (can look like fungal infection)
What systemic signs/symptoms are associated with psoriasis?
Raised inflammatory markers Arthritis Uveitis Inflammatory bowel disease Increased cardiovascular risk
What topical treatments can be used in psoriasis?
Diprobase (emollient)
plus
Vitamin D analogue ointment (calcipotriol)
Topical steroids
Dithranol (keratolytic)
Coal tar
What is guttate psoriasis?
Fast onset of multiple small plaques affecting most of body
Who tends to be affected by guttate psoriasis and how do you manage it?
Children
No management required as it usually completely clears
What is palmoplantar pustural psoriasis?
Chronic pustular condition affecting palms and soles of feet
(thought to be completely different condition to plaque psoriasis as it is associated with different genes
What is erythrodermic psoriasis?
Erythema and shedding of skin over large area of body which can be fatal from fluid loss
Who tends to be affected by erythrodermic psoriasis?
Those with chronic unstable plaque psoriasis
What can trigger erythrodermic psoriasis?
Drugs
