When do PSA handovers occur?
Where can it take place?

A

When a train is handed over from one VO to another.
Can take place at a time and location on PSA roster, or as part of a redetermination.

A

What must be recorded in your notebook during the handover process?

A

An up-to-date record of all operating instructions must be recorded in your notebook.

This ensures all operating restrictions, for example any Leading EDP restrictions are
remembered along with the Karabiner clip

You should also write the terminal stations direction of the vehicle configuration in your note book

A

*Poplar
*West India Quay

However they may also take place at other locations during disruption or weekend closures.

What does your roster line state?
What does the SMC screen aid with?

A

The time and location of the handover that is
due to take place along with the run
number of the train.

SMC screen can be used to identify the vehicle numbers allocated to that run and
should be checked before leaving the Booking On Room.

What does the SMC overview show and what must you do with that information?

A

The screen will show the following
information:
• Vehicle Numbers
• Radio Number
• BWV number
These must be noted in your notebook.

If you cannot see you train on the SMC Overview, speak to booking on supervisor.

A

You must ensure you have sufficient time to travel from the Booking On Room to your handover location

A

you should wait on the platform where the front set of doors would normally be.

When the train arrives, if the PSA is not visible, walk along the train to locate the PSA.

What is a redetermination?

A

a reforming of the service following a delay to
trains to put run numbers back on time as per the schedule

For e.g. a delay on the Beckton to Tower Gateway service may mean Run 301 will become Run 302, Run 302 will become Run
303, etc

What will happen to you as a result of redetermination?

A

You may be relieved before your scheduled finish time

it is vital that the handover is conducted correctly,
with all operating restrictions and equipment handed over correctly

What must you do when you have been relieved during a redetermination ?

A

contact the Booking On Room Supervisor using
the platform telephone at the earliest opportunity

Confirm the following information
with Booking On Room Supervisor:
• Your Name
• Location
• Scheduled Run Number

What is the Handover process when the train is being operated from LEDP?

A

The handover should take place at the leading set of doors.

If the train is being operated from leading EDP due to personnel trackside you must not depart until the restrictions have been confirmed with the controller.

You must complete your notebook when safe to do so

What is a train swap?
Where does it take place?

A

Train swap is the change of vehicles which generally occurs at a terminal station.

The controller will contact the PSA via radio to confirm you will carrying out a train swap and the location.

Controller will confirm vehicle numbers of train you will be swapping and what to do with your equipment (e.g.keep equipment with you)

What are your actions when on a spare duty and booking on supervisor asks you to take a train from the depot to carry out a train swap?

A

You will be required to carry out a full pre-service check and TVA procedure

On arrival at TVA, controller will advise you of destination, any operating restrictions and if the train is running non-stop

Upon arrival at destination, Controller will advise you of vehicles you will be boarding

Once you have boarded new vehicles, follow controller instructions - which may include carrying out an out of service check and contacting them once complete.
