When do PSA handovers occur?
Where can it take place?
When a train is handed over from one VO to another.
Can take place at a time and location on PSA roster, or as part of a redetermination.
As part of the PSA Handover, what equipment is passed on to the new PSA along with what information?
radio handset
psa key bunch
spare keys set
Body Worn Video Device
are all passed on,along with any operational restrictions on the railway and any known faults with the vehicle
What must be recorded in your notebook during the handover process?
An up-to-date record of all operating instructions must be recorded in your notebook.
This ensures all operating restrictions, for example any Leading EDP restrictions are
remembered along with the Karabiner clip
You should also write the terminal stations direction of the vehicle configuration in your note book
For example
LEW 152/101/129 BAN
How will control notify staff of any changes to operating restrictions?
Via an all calls message
PSA handovers will generally take place at which locations?
*Poplar
*West India Quay
*Canary Wharf
*Canning Town
However they may also take place at other locations during disruption or weekend closures.
What does your roster line state?
What does the SMC screen aid with?
The time and location of the handover that is
due to take place along with the run
number of the train.
SMC screen can be used to identify the vehicle numbers allocated to that run and
should be checked before leaving the Booking On Room.
What does the SMC overview show and what must you do with that information?
The screen will show the following
information:
• Vehicle Numbers
• Radio Number
• BWV number
These must be noted in your notebook.
If you cannot see you train on the SMC Overview, speak to booking on supervisor.
What must you do when travelling from booking on room to handover location?
You must ensure you have sufficient time to travel from the Booking On Room to your handover location
On arrival at handover location, what must you do?
you should wait on the platform where the front set of doors would normally be.
When the train arrives, if the PSA is not visible, walk along the train to locate the PSA.
If you are the PSA on board the train, what must you do?
ensure you have your belongings and equipment with you before you arrive at the handover station.
You should be on the lead carriage, at the lead set of doors on approach to your changeover platform.
What must you do, if no member of staff is on platform at handover point?
You must contact the Booking On Room
You must ensure you fully understand and adhere to any …………… passed on to you
Restrictions
As part of the handover process you must contact the controller and confirm what?
Your location
Run number
Operating restrictions passed on ( controller will confirm the restrictions to you)
If the controller has not responded by the time the train receives RTD you may………………………
depart, but this should be from the LEDP of the train
What is a redetermination?
a reforming of the service following a delay to
trains to put run numbers back on time as per the schedule
For e.g. a delay on the Beckton to Tower Gateway service may mean Run 301 will become Run 302, Run 302 will become Run
303, etc
