Background of the study
Bartle was moving into the professional word, he was going to be working around lots of different groups - caused him to be curious about different group relations

Found that ppts showed common feelings of chaos, confusion, conflict, disagreements and coping
identified themes and smaller subthemes
up to each school individually to choose timetables
Limitations of the study
Unstructured studies are difficult to replicate and compare as there are no constant questions
How did this study compare to previous ones?
Explored the use of reduced timetables as exclusionary practice for young people in Wales
Motivation for the study
No previous research into impact of reduced timetables on young children, felt this was an important topic to research
impact of this study
- able to contribute to new legislation
- providing guidance to ordinary people on improving learner engagement and attendance
