What are the biological characteristics of a provisional?
- seals pulp and cut dentin
- healthy gingiva
- good contact so teeth don’t shift
What are the two types of surface forms?
- external surface form
- tissue surface form: prepped tooth.
What are the mechanical characteristics of a provisional?
Sufficient strength
What are the esthetic characteristics of a provisional?
Looks pretty duh but not too pretty
What are the three methods for making provisionals?
- indirect

What must one do before taking an impression of prepped tooth?
Pack cord 1mm below gingiva
How far should the matrix be trimmed from the gingiva?
4-5mm
What must be placed on the tissue form before applying resin?
Alcote layer
How long and at what pressure should the cast be placed in the pressure pot?
15 min and 25 psi
What color of sand paper disc is the most fine grit?
The lighter the disc the more fine grit

What is the order of polishing?
Pumice and then cres shine
What are some characteristics of a good provisional?
- visual contact
- convex
- no bubbles or voids
- nice trimmed margin
- high luster
- sealed margin
