what does DRSABCD stand for?
DRSABCD is Danger (check for danger around the patient) Response (try to get a response out of the patient by using COWS) Send For Help (ask a by stander to call 000 or do it yourself) Airways ( open the airways and check if their is anything blocking them) Breathing (Check to see if the patient is breathing) CPR (do CPR on the patient if it necessary 30:2 until the medical help arrives or until you can physically not go anymore) Defibrillator (if their is a defibrillator accessible use. all you have to do is follow the basic instructions in gives you).
what does COWS stand for ?
Cows is ‘Can you hear me?’ ‘Open your eyes’ ‘whats your name?’ ‘Squeeze my hands’ this is how you try to get a response out of your patient.
what is CPR? and what is required ?
CPR is what you do to a patient that doesn’t have a pulse. You must do 30 compressions to 2 breathes (30:2). The compressions should go 1/3 into the chest cavity. you must do this to the beat of staying alive until the emergency services get there or a defibrillator of until you’re physically exhausted and can not possibly go anymore.
what is a soft tissue injury and what does it include ?
A Soft tissue injury (STI) is the damage of muscles, ligaments and tendons throughout the body. Common soft tissue injuries usually occur from a sprain, strain, a one off blow resulting in a contusion or overuse of a particular part of the body.
what does RICERS stand for ?
RICER is Rest, ICE, Compression, Elevation, Referral.
what does NO HARM stand for ?
No HARM is NO ,Heat, Alcohol, Running/exercise on injured area, Massage.
what is a hard tissue injury and what does it include ?
Hard tissue injuries include fractures, dislocations and loss of teeth. That is, any injury to the skeletal system.
what are the signs of asthma ?
Signs of asthma are shortness of breath, tightness in chest and wheezing.
what are the signs of a fracture ?
Signs of a fracture are deformity of area, bruising and swelling, and loss of function of specific area.
what is the order of treatment ( who to help first) ?
Order of treatment is that you should help a unconscious patient, then bleeding patient and then the bone injury patient.
what is asthma and what triggers it ?
Asthma is when the airways inflame and the patient starts to get a short of breath, wheezing, and tightness in the chest. To release the inflamed area the patient has 4 breaths of vent aline. Triggers can be exercise, cold weather and dust in the air
