Entameba hystolytica (trophozoite and cyst)
disease: Amebiasis,amebic dysentery
symptoms:,diarrhea,gas,bloating stools, peritonitis
how disease is acquired: from ingesting cyst from fecal-contaminated food or water
disease diagnosed: find trophozoite in stool smear.
(cramps,nausea,vomiting,malaise,weight loss.)
Entameba coli (trophozoite and cyst)
No disease::::this species is an intestinal commensal..The problem is that it looks very similar to Entameba histolytica and may therefore confound diagnosis.
Entameba gingivalis (trophozoite)
disease: not certain if it causes periodontitis,gum disease,but it is associated with it.
Acanthameba culburtsoni (trophozoite)
disease: Acanthameba keratis
symptoms: it causes corneal ulcers and inflammation; can alter mental state.
