Why are protozoans referred to as heterotrophs?
They obtain their food ready made as they cannot make their own food.
How do Amoeba get food?
They will ingest by phagocytosis for intracellular digestion.
How do Plasmodium get food?
They absorb nutrients directly through the cell membrane.
How have protozoan groups been divided?
On the basis of their means of locomotion.

What are Amoeboids?
Move and feed by means of temporary cytoplasmic projections called pseudopodia
What are Ciliates?
Use cilia to swim and capture food
What are Flagellates?
Use the flagella for locomotion
What are Parasitic?
Non-motile
