Protein Synthesis Flashcards
The process of going from DNA to RNA, and then to a protein
Central Dogma
Much like DNA, except for single stranded, can leave the nucleus, and has uracil instead of thymine
RNA
An enzyme that adds new bases to the DNA
DNA polymerase
Adenine, Uracil, Cytosine, and Guanine
RNA base pairs
Messenger RNA
mRNA
The copying down of genetic info (DNA splits, and then mRNA comes in and receives some info, and then leaves the nucleus)
Transcription
The fluid in a cell
Cytoplasm
An organelle in a cell that is inside the cytoplasm, and that helps make proteins
Ribosome
A set of three nitrogen bases that is read by the ribosome at a time
Codon
A transfer RNA
tRNA
A type of acid that makes up proteins, and is transported by tRNA
Amino acid
A ribosome reads a codon, a tRNA brings in an amino acid.
