All of the biomes of the entire world
Biosphere
The organisms that get energy from the sun, the first level of an energy pyramid
Producer
The organisms that eat the producers, the second level of the energy pyramid
Primary Consumer
The organisms that usually eat the primary consumers, or sometimes the producers themselves, they are the third level in the energy pyramid
Secondary Consumer
Top dog of the food chain, the last level of an energy pyramid
Tertiary Consumer
A diagram that shows how energy travels through an ecosystem
Energy Pyramid
Level of energy within the energy pyramid
Trophic Level
All of the mass of the living things in the world/area
Biomass
Rule that states only about 10% of the energy gets passed onto the next level
10% Rule
Plants do this to harness energy to make sugars; energy+CO2+ H2O
Photosynthesis
All non-plants do this, process of breaking down sugars; C6H12O6+O2
Cell Repsiration
How a population is organized
Population distribution
If this is high, there are many organisms in one are, if it is low, there are not so many
Population density
Something that can change the number of organisms to lower the population’s density, done by the organism(s)
Density dependent factors
Something that has an effect on the population that lowers it, but it is out of the organism(s) control
Density independent factors
A graph of growth under ideal conditions-it has a J-shape
Exponential Growth
A graph that shows how real world resources are shared and not endless-results in an S-shape
Limited Growth
Change in number of individuals over time
Growth Rate
The number of organisms an environment can hold
Carrying Capacity
