Q

How does transcription work?

A
  1. DNA strand splits, exposing active strand
  2. Complementary nucleotides line up opposite the active strand forming mRNA
  3. mRNA leaves the nucleus
  4. The DNA strand zips back up using the enzyme polymerase

Q

How does translation work?

A
  1. 3 nucleotides attach to the ribosome (CODONS)
  2. tRNA picks up the amino acid and takes it to rRNA
  3. rRNA picks up the amino acid and attaches it to the polypeptide
