Q

17- How is Dairyman Crick described? and how does this compare to Alec D’Urberville in Tantridge?

A

He talks about cows horns, ion which the narrator comments “as though even witchcraft might be limited by anatomical changes”, which shows he’s a sensible and we can infer, even religious man, from the poem about him dressing up on a Sunday at the beginning of the chapter. This heavily contrasts Alec D’Urberville, who is possessive, mysterious and we can’t be certain but no reference of him being religious is made in the chapters he features in.
