Explain the meaning of Risalah. (2)
A
Prophethood - channel of communication between God and humans in the form of rasals beginning with Adam and ending with Muhammad.
“And it was not for a messenger to come with a sign except by permission of Allah”

Explain the importance of Prophet Adam. (3)
A
- Made of multi-coloured soil, showing the diversity of humans
- Confessed his sins after eating from the forbidden fruit and being cast out of Eden, allowing him to be forgiven and become the first prophet.
- First to show repentance and submission to God

Explain the importance of Prophet Ibrahim. (2)
A
- Was a hanif (monotheist in pre-Islamic Arabia)
- When Muslims go on Hajj, they remember how Ibrahim was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice of his son, Ishma’il; showed his strength against the devil.

A
- Led the Israelites (Allah’s chosen ppl) out of slavery and into the promised land.
- Given the Tawrat/Torah (the word of God)

A
- Made Jerusalem a holy place for Muslims.

A
- Was given the Injil (gospel)
- Wasn’t crucified b/c God wouldn’t allow evil to triumph over good, and instead ascended and will return on the D.o.J.
- Muslims reject the belief in the Trinity b/c of tawhid.
- “We gave Jesus…miracles and strengthened him with the holy spirit”

Explain the life of Prophet Muhammad. (6)
A
- Born in Mecca, he hated the cruelty, corruption and idol worship there, b/c he was a monotheist.
- On Layat-ul-Qadr (the Night of Power), the angel Jibril appeared to him and ordered him to recite the words of Allah
- “Surely We revealed it [the Qur’an] on the Night of Qadr”
- Revelations of God’s word continued for 23 years until he died, forming the Qur’an.
- Openly preached against polytheism in Mecca, with the message of one true God, who you should give thanks to through worship and the D.o.J
- Hijrah - Migration from Mecca to Medinah (Yathrib) to spread his message.
- Was welcomed as a prophet, political leader and military commander, allowing him to seize Mecca and establish Islam as a permanent religion, forgiving his enemies and being recognized as the true and last prophet.

Why is Prophet Muhammad so important? (2)
A
- Role model b/c of his moral and righteous way of life that was a perfect example of how a Muslim should live.
- He was the Seal of Prophets who brought the final unchanging message of God.
