Q

What are independent properties

How does the independency of Temperature and Pressure change in a system

A

A Property can be changed without affecting the other

Temperature and Pressure are independent in a single-phase system
They are not independent in a system undergoing a phase change
Not independent in two phase regions

Q

How do you Determine if a substance is a Superheated Gas a Compressed Liquid or two phase from a Temperature and Pressure Value

A

Single Phase Reigons
Look at Values of Temperature and Pressure
Consult Pressure table A3
If Temperature is above Saturation Temp, then its a Superheated Gas A4
If temperature is below then its a compressed liquid A5
If temp = saturation then 2 phase Region, A2 & A3
