Physical State
the classification of matter as a solid, liquid, or gas
Solid
a state of matter that has a definite shape and a definite volume
Liquid
a state of matter that has a definite volume but does not have a definite shape. Liquid
takes the shape of its container.
Gas
a state of matter that does not have a definite shape or volume. Gas expands to fill its
container.
Mass
the amount of matter in an object or substance
Volume
the amount of space that an object or substance takes up
Density
a measurement that describes how mass is packed into volume
Physical Property
a property that can be observed, measured, or changed without changing
the substance itself
Insulator
a material that reduces or prevents the transfer or heat or electricity
Conductor
a material that transfers heat or electricity easily
