Properties Flashcards
Fusibility
The ability to change into a liquid when heated to a particular temperature – the melting point
Conductivity
The ability to conduct electrical current or heat
Strength
The ability to withstand force without breaking or permanently deforming
Elasticity
The ability to bend and flex when subjected to a force and then return to its original form when the force is removed
Plasticity
The ability to be deformed by an external force without breaking or fracture
Malleability
Deformed by Compressive force without fracturing
Ductility
The ability to be deformed through tensile force without breaking or fracture
Hardness
The ability to resist abrasive wear, indentation and deformation
Toughness
The ability to withstand sudden stress in the forms of shocks or blows without fracturing
Durability
The ability to withstand wear, tear and deterioration over time
Stability
The ability to resist changes in shape and size over time
