Defintion
words which are used in place of nouns or noun phrases, they are also a sub-class of nouns, they can identify subjects and objects.
Personal pronouns
refer to people and things; I, WE, SHE, IT, THEM
Reflexive pronouns
‘reflect back’ to the earlier noun or pronoun; MYSELF, OURSELF, ITSELF
Possessive pronouns
show ownership; MINE, OURS, HERS, ITS
Interrogative pronouns
used in questions; WHAT?, WHICH?, WHOSE?
Demonstrative pronouns
help to indicate the position of people or things in relation to the speaker; I’LL HOLD THESE, I’LL HAVE THIS
Reciprocal pronouns
refer to a two-way relationship; EACH OTHER, ONE ANOTHER
Indefinite pronouns
express vagueness and uncertainty; EVERYONE, ANYBODY, SOMETHING
Impersonal pronouns
used in statements which refer to people in general or unknown people; ONE, YOU, THEY
Relative pronouns
used to link a relative clause to a noun/noun phrase; WHO, WHICH, THAT
