The role of NGOs in health.
NGOs promote health by lobbying for policy change, offer grants and funding to organisations with similar goals, and producing research documents. They mostly rely on the Australian public for donations and sponsorship.
Role of government health organisations
The government promotes health through providing health care services, promoting healthy behaviours and preventing disease. At a state level, the government distributes funding provided by the federal government, supports people in local communities and provides state based initiatives promoting good health. While on a federal level the government monitors trends in regards to physical activity, provides policy advice, conducts research and provides funds through the national budget.
Victorian department of health
A state government body that aims to enhance and protect the health and wellbeing of all Victorians. It funds and manages the public hospital system, develops health interventions and implements initiates encouraging Victorians to improve their health.
Federal department of health and aging
The federal department of health and ageing aims to improve access to national health services and help people stay healthy through health promotion programs. Developed the Australian physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines
VicHealth
VicHealth works in partnership to improve the health of Victorians. They promote physical activity by providing information via broaches, encourages healthy and welcoming environments in sporting clubs and promoting come and try days.
National heart foundation
The Australian heart foundation aims to improve the heart health of Australians by promoting healthy lifestyles via mass media campaigns. They promote behaviours that are in favour of heart and blood vessel health and promote the NPAGs
