prokaryotes + eukaryotes Flashcards
eukaryote
organism with cells that have a nucleus + membrane bound organelles
prokaryote
organism with cells that dont contain a true nucleus or other membrane bound organelles
light microscope
uses light to allow us to view a specimen
electron microscope
uses electrons to allow us to view specimen
transmission electron microscope
beam of electrons passes through specimen + is dispersed by the structures there
scanning electron microscope
specimen coated in a thin layer of metal + beam of electrons is bounced off the surface allowing 3D images to be formed
what differences are there between eukaryotes + prokaryotes
prokaryotes have no nucleus, no membrane bound organelles, and have DNA as loop + in plasmids
