Prokaryote cells- Bacterial cells Flashcards
Nucleoid
Controls the activity of the cell and reproduction. It’s also where transcription and replication of DNA take’s place.
Plasmids
The enhance the survival of an organism. This is done by killing other organisms or defending the host cell by producing toxins. They also go through the process of replication in bacteria cell’s.
70s ribosomes
They play a key role in the catalysis of an important and crucial biological processes. These are peptidyl transfer and peptidyl hydrolysis. They join amino acids together to make proteins.
Capsule
A capsule will help cells from desiccation and toxic metabolites in the environment. Helps bacteria come to the surface and camouflages them from the immune system.
Cell wall
It gives the cell structural support and protection. Also acts as a filtering system/mechanism. It surrounds the cell membrane and can be tough flexible and rigid.
