Project Scheduling Management Flashcards
Define Sequencing
The identification and documentation of relationships among Project Activities. This is done to help develop an estimated time of completion and to further contribute to the development of the project schedule
Identify precedence relationships
There are 4:
Finish-To-Start (FS): Where once an activity finishes, another can start
Finish-To-Finish (FF): Where one activity can finish only if a different activity finishes as well
Start-To-Start (SS): Where an activity can start once a different one has started
Start-To-Finish (SF): Where an activity can finish once a different activity starts.
What is the Critical Path Method?
The critical path method is the calculation of both early AND late start to end dates for all activities. These calculations are than used to determine the critical path and any flexibility in the schedule.
What is the Critical Path?
The critical path is the longest path in the project. One that has no slack
What is Slack?
Slack is the flexibility in the schedule.
How do you calculate Slack?
Slack = Late Finish - Early Finish = Early Start - Late Start
What processes are included in Project Schedule Management, and in what order?
- Plan Schedule Management
- Define Activities
- Sequence Activities
- Estimate Activity Durations
- Develop Schedule
- Control Schedule
Define Activity
Specified work that needs to be performed in order to contribute to the production of a deliverable
Define Duration
The amount of time that it takes from the start of an activity to when the activity is finished.
