What is the Project Management Office(PMO)
A department within an organization which provides and maintains the standards and the procedures to the project
What classifications of PMOs exist within their authorities?
-Supportive
-Controlling
-Directive
What does supportive PMO’s do?
Creates the standards, procedures and other Project documents ( templates, lessons learned, etc)
Not the most authority compared to others and have less responsibility for projects.
What does controlling PMOs do?
Not only supports the projects but also has some control over the projects. Don’t manage projects or take directive decisions. Moderate Authority.
What does Directive PMOs do?
Manages the projects among the organization. Coordinate and directly manage projects. Responsible for success of projects. Most powerful authority.
