Project Management Flashcards
What is the project management process?
Initiate, Plan, Execute, Control, Close
What are management and leadership?
Management: controlling and organising a group to accomplish a goal.
Leadership: ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to achieve success.
Influence and inspiration separate leaders from managers
How to address poor performance
Ensure you address poor performance promptly. Tell them you have concerns – they cannot improve if they don’t know there’s an issue.
Good management:
* Regular one-to-one meetings
* Setting clear objectives and performance standards
* Giving frequent feedback
1 – Informal discussion:
* Arrange a meeting and clarify expectations and requirements
* Provide more support / training
2 – Formal discussion:
* Set the right tone – discuss good and bad things
* Get their feedback – is there something stopping them from performing
* Discuss specific examples
* Set clear goals and time periods for improvement
3 – Formal Warning:
* Escalate internally – discuss with their line manager.
* If you are their line manager, issue an improvement note. This formalises the issue.
* Outline problem, timescales, review dates, and support.
4 – Move onto another role they are better suited to? If they don’t agree…
5 – Final warnings and Dismissal:
* Put them back onto probation (final warning)
* Dismiss them
What permissions do you need to alter listed buildings?
If a structure is a listed building, it is not covered by the normal planning process and requires Listed Building Consent.
Non-designated heritage assets may be locally put on heritage lists. This means they will warrant special consideration during the planning process
