What is a DCP test?
dynamic cone penetrometer test used to find CBR value of soil. Done by dropping 8kg weight 575mm onto a rod and recording the penetration.
What is the CBR of a soil?
California bearing ratio is shown in a % and used to evaluate the strength of subgrade soil. DMRB says minimum CBR of ~2% required without needing stabilisation
What is a PLT?
plate load test used to determine the ground’s bearing capacity and actual strength by applying an increasing load from a circular steel plate to induce settlement. Usually done with excavator. Provides figure in kPa or kN/m²
What environmental tests are required?
Take samples & test for contaminates within ground to determine how it is classified.
confirm if waste is hazardous / Stable nonreactive hazardous / non-hazardous / inert waste
provide it with a classification code and find appropriate waste disposal location. Based on WM3 testing requirements.
A WAC (Waste Acceptance Criteria) test will essentially analyse the leaching ability of contaminants in the soil to identify how contaminants will act when in landfill

Where is information on placing earthworks found?
SHW Series 600 Table 6/4 - indicates thickness of layers & number of passes required based on type & size of roller
how to find out what standards are required for each element?
use the SHW series which references the BS standard, then find online to further review
