Project Management Flashcards
Duration
scope of work/(productivity x crew size)
work crowding
having too many workers in a small space
learning curve
productivity increases when tasks are repetative
out of sequence
workers unable to have a continuous work flow and are interrupted
WBS
work breakdown structure (sometimes called a dictionary) - work identified in the SOW and serves to help with scheduling
AON
Activity on Node precedence diagram - could be finish to start (most common)/ start to start/finish to finish/finish to start
finish to start
task 1 has to end for task 2 to start
finish to finish
task 1 has to end before task 2 can end, but they can be worked on at the same time. eg. report can be started while data collection is happening, but data collection must end before the report can finish
start to start
two things can happen at once - milling can happen at the same time as paving
start to finish
task 2 has to start before task 1 can finish - a building with an elevator can start to be built, but the electricity has to be in before the elevator can be installed
AOA
Activity on Arrow precedence diagram - finish to start precedence only, people oriented flow chart based.
float
flexibility in a project - could be the amount of time between early and late start dates, early and late finish dates, or TF = LF - ES - Duration
