Q

Why is SPI not a reliable metric to use?

A

EV can have a maximum value equal to BAC (EV=perc of completion x BAC)
PV can have a maximum value equal to BAC
EV and PV have this value and the end of the project.
This results in an SPI = 1 (EV/PV)
=> SPI always 1 at the end of the project
=> even if the project finishes dramatically late, SPI still has a value = 1
=> Gives a false impression of the progression of the project
