Project 2 Flashcards
What is meant by the term System Isolation and how is it accomplished?
Locking out particular system such as electrical, securing that switch or system in a way so it cannot be inadvertently actuated and placarding to communicate.
What type of fire extinguisher is used with the Carburetor Re & Re? Where should it be located?
Class B flammable liquids
Should be close as possible in the working area (across the hangar is too far away)
How do you ensure there will be no electrical shorts that could lead to a fire?
- Disconnect the battery
- Placard both battery and ground power
- Pull all circuit breakers for associated systems
- Clip or lock them out and placard
List general safety precautions for Fuel Control system re & re.
- Fuel systems shut off and placarded
- lines all capped to prevent contamination and leakage
- label all items removed for location
- position/clock angle of fittings for installation
What are the references for the removal and installation of the Carburetor on the Lycoming O-320-H engine normally installed on a Cessna 172N aircraft.).
Aircraft manual, Overhaul manual etc………
If there is a difference between limits for a specific task in the Cessna and the Lycoming manuals, which limit is used?
The Cessna manual as the aircraft manual takes precedence.
Why is a pre-removal inspection carried out?
In order to determine if there are any issues so that they can be rectified while the component is at the repair facility not once it returns.
What items are inspected during the pre-removal inspection?
-The carburetor and the attaching parts for condition
the controls for fit
-Form and function
-The fluid lines for condition, leakage
-Age and installation
-Induction airbox and its various attachments for condition and security.
What are the procedures used to remove the Carburetor and prepare it for shipment for Overhaul?
-carried out
What are the installing P/N’s for the Carburetor from the Cessna & Lycoming IPC’s? What is the installation torque for the nuts installed?
