Normally near an exit (but on small a/c normally on one side of the external fuselage at the rear of the a/c); made of fireproof metal

On as part of the pre-take-off vital actions at the hold; off as part of the after landing checks when the runway is vacated

Airworthiness review certificate (ARC); certificate of release to service (CRS); no unapproved modifications or repairs

C of A is non-expiring
