What sorts of organisations are there for psych?
Psychology:
- Australian Psychological Society (APS) with 3 divisions
- American Psychological Association (APA) with 54 divisions
What sorts of organisations are there for counselling?
Australian Counselling Association (ACA_ with 4 levels of membership
Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation Australia PACFA
What is the APS
- not the registration board
- peak body in Australia for registered psychologists
APS student members
- can join for 65 bucks
- can join any of the colleges for 16.50 per college
- can join dPRET and DGPP divisions
Divisions of the APS
Division 1: includes 9 colleges
Division 2: Division of general psychological practice (DGPP)
Division 3: Division of psychological research, education and training (DPRET) - which was created in 2013 to give voice to APS members in academia, research and training institutions
