A response to ongoing stress.
What are the 6 stages of stress leading to burnout?
- Flight or flight (withdrawal and/or discord)
- Emotional reaction (anger, shock, surprise)
- Negative thinking (Despair, anger, depression, anxiety)
- Physical reaction (Headaches, GI upset, backache)
- No change in stressor or person: increased stress
- Burnout
What is compassion fatigue?
occurs when people over ID with the pain and suffering of others and begin to exhibit signs of stress as a result. (insomnia, physical symptoms, blaming or complaining..etc.)
