What do Notices to Airmen NOTAM contain?
A notice distributed by means of telecommunication containing information
concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility,
service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to
personnel concerned with flight operations.
What information is NOT promulgated in a NOTAM?
Information that:
relates to an aerodrome, or heliport, and its vicinity, but does not affect its operational status
is not of direct operational significance
does not impact the safe operation of aircraft
is not likely to influence a pilot or operator’s decision to divert a flight

What does NOTAMN signify?
New: Contains new information
What does NOTAMR signify?
Replacement: Immediately cancels and replaces the NOTAM identified by the serial number following this indicator

Cancelled: Immediately cancels the NOTAM identified by the serial number following this indicator
Where would you find information on hours of operation of PRD?
ERSA, DAH
Are pilots required to pass details of hazardous weather to ATS for distribution?
Yes. These should include as
much detail as possible, including location and severity. Hazardous weather
includes, in particular, thunderstorms, severe turbulence, hail, icing, line squalls,
and volcanic ash cloud.
Does a NOTAM that contains an expiry time automatically finish at that time?
Yes
When describing availability of facilities what abbreviations are used?
U/S - unserviceable
CLOSED - closed
NOT AVBL - not available
AVBL – available
CMSD - commissioned– when first commissioned; or
DCMSD - decommissioned – when permanently withdrawn from service
