Principles Of Traning Flashcards
What is the first thing that should come to mind when thinking about the principles of training?
SPOR
What does SPOR stand for?
Specificity
Progression
Overload
Reversability
What does FITT stand for?
Frequency
Intensity
Type
Time
Which principle of training does FITT link to?
Overload
What is Specificity?
When the training must be relevant to the needs of the sporting activity and individual
What is progression?
When training must become gradually more difficult
What is overload?
The body must work harder than normal so there is some stress and discomfort. The training must push the performer beyond their comfort zone
What is reversibility?
Adaptions will be lost if training is stopped.
Use a practical example for Specificity and why is it important
Specificity is important because it is particular to individuals positions/ sports. For example a goalkeeper would have different training to a striker.
How does overload link to FITT?
FITT optimises trading causing overload pushing the performer out of comfort zone.
Frequency- do more often
Intensity- increase reps/ weight
Type- change the type of training
Time- train longer
