Who is a good teacher?
a good teacher aligns what need to teach( written curriculum, teaching strategies, methods of evaluation…), and what we actually teach and what we assess students on.
Why does a good planning lead to a good learning experience?
1) teacher will be lost when it comes to students’ progress.
2) It will clarify the ways that make students learn and the lesson objectives.
3) it is a map that states clealry the learning stages.
What to consider when doing a lesson plan?
Wiggins and McTighe thought of a 3 step process (1998):
1) We have to ask ourselves what we want to teach the students and what would be the learning outcomes.
2) How will we know that learning is taking place?
3) what kind of instructional practices will allow students to use the new knowledge?
What are the advantages of using a 3 step process/ lesson plan?
1) Students will be assessed on what they have learned.
2) When students know the objectives, it makes the teacher look responsible and reliable.
What do we mean by Backwards Design?
it is a method of designing a lesson plan by setting goals before the instructional methods and forms of assessment.
What are the stages of Backwards Design?
1) Identify the learning results
Q: What do I want the students to learn and be able to do?
2) Determine assessment evidence
Q: How will I know that learning is taking place?
3) Plan learning instruction and practices
Q: Which actvities that will enable students to acquire the needed skills?
