A

1) written Lge is more important than spoken lge.
2) It focuses on Accuracy more than Fluency
3) Communication is not our goal. The real goal is to be able to read, understand, write in the TL and translate Foreign Literature.
4) When students make mistakes, Teacher corrects by himself or asks another student to give the answer.

GTM Disadvantages (5)

A

1) There’s no creativity BC students are just asked to translate
2) It encourages word for word translation and it kills context since Vocabulary is learnt in the form of isolated words.
3) It’s suitable only for beginners since the techniques are boring and tedious.
4) It teaches abt the lge Not the lge itself since it focuses only on Grammar.
5) Doesn’t encourage Communication which is why Lges exist in the first place.
