How would you maximize learning throughout intervention?
- reduce rate of speech

extrinsic reinforcement
client correctly produces a sentences so they are rewarded a lolipop
intrinsic reinforcement
client correctly produces a sentences so they get to roll the dice in the game of candy land
(desired outcome-award is part of the game/activity you are playing)
feedback
gives client valueable info about the communicative act and accuracy of an utterance
how can we generalize language gains?
- hw, change around therapy environment (sequential modification)
- delayed reinforcement/distractors
- encourage use of self monitoring
clinical service delivery model
therapy takes place in a clinic room by an SLP
called “pull out”
consultant service delivery model
slp determines targets, procedures, and context and passes this info to an “alternative agent” (parents, classroom teachers, aides, etc)
language based classroom model
slp is classroom teacher for group of students with language disorders
collaborative models
slp works with one or more students but does so in the mainstream classroom in collaboration with the regular teacher
“push in”
discharge criteria
1 communication is normal
2 goals/objectives are met
3 communication is comparable to others of same age
4 skills no longer affect social, emotional, or education status
5 attained desired level of skills
