Principles Flashcards
False - Children are mini-adults
True - Children get better at reasoning as they mature (the capacity to reason and impose self-control increases as they mature)
False - With lots of explanation children will build understanding
True - Children are overwhelmed by too much talk and too much emotion (a child’s ability to take in information is finite, and in a heightened sense of emotion too much talk affects the ability to think properly, emotion sparks more emotion)
False - Students need to be ‘dealt with’ and problems explained in detail
True - excess negative attention is a powerful reward and the attention actually reinforces the negative behaviour. We need to sort the behaviour to respond better (MBA, Start? Stop?)
