The Executive
In the British Parliamentary syste, the executive sits within the legislature and is responsible for thr government and country
Core Executive
The most important elements of the government - cabinet , senior civil servants and key political advisors
Secondary legislation
(Delegated legislation) process im which primary legislation can be a needed by the gover,ent without requiring another act of Parliament.
Three ways in which how the executives govern
- Introduces Parliament proposals for new legislation
- Introduces Parliament responses into changing circumstances
- Introduces budgets
Royal prerogative
Executive power of the monarchy - such as command and amend forces. The UK has been transferred to thr prime,imsyer who can wield them on behalf of the monarch.
Doctors Mandate
the party which wins the election has a mandate to implement any policy or action which it considers to be in the national interest
5 Prime minister Powers
- Determines the memberships of the government
- Negotiares foreign treaties
- directs. military forces in combat
- Makes senior appointments to the civil service and judiciary
- decides whether to activate the UK trident nuclear deterrent

Cabinet Minister
Senior member of Government - Have a head of department and Jane a major administrative and policy making function. Attend cabinet and are bound by the principle of collective ministerial responsibility
Government departments
An executive branch of governemt - role is to implement governemt policy and administer its areas if interest and control.
Individual ministerial responsibility
Members of the cabinet take ultimate responsibility for what occurs within their department including both administrative and policy failures.
What happened at the 1954 administrative failure
Failed to return land to its rightful owner - and resigned Dugdale took full responsibility for his actions
Policy failure (1982)
Lord Carrigton resigned under Margaret’ Thatcher after he was not aware of Argentinian intentions and should of been more clear of a response against the im Asimov of the Falklands
Collective Ministerial responsibility
All members of the government are expected to publicly support it.
