Q

How do you treat hyperthyroidism?

A
  • Carbimazole (CI in pregnancy) + propanolol (symptom release)
  • Propylthiouracil instead of carbimazole - younger females, safer in pregnancy
  • Second-line = radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) - often need to take long term levothyroxine
