Exfoliation Of Deciduous Teeth
– Over-retained deciduous/root stumps.
– Fibrous gingivae.
– Ankylosed/submerged deciduous teeth to be assessed radiographically.

– Presence of any supernumerary tooth.
Ideal Requirements Of Space Maintainers

Distal Shoe Space Maintainer
Types:
– Willets – Bar type gingival extension.
– Roche’s – ‘V’ shaped gingival extension
Contraindications:
– If several teeth are missing in same
quadrant as there is lack of abutment.
– Medically compromised patients
– Poor oral hygiene.
– Lack of patient or parental cooperation
