What do we need to do to prevent HIV transmission?
Change behavior, spread knowledge, increase HIV testing, condom use, abstinence, male circumcision, needle exchange, etc

Safe sex messages are no longer being heard and complacency bc AIDS is no longer a death sentence

Primary: preventing HIV exposure among the uninfected Secondary: preventing HIV transmission by those who are infected by education voluntary testing, partner notification, drug abuse treatment and needle exchange programs

Uganda and Zambia, partner reduction reversed major epidemic, Thailand and Brazil, condom and ART, Senegal, Aggressive campaign and epidemic avoided all t ogether (low prevalence rate)

foreskin has a high level of langerhans cells and more susceptible to tearing and if it becomes routine it can prevent 6 million infections and 3 studies in africa showed a 60% reduction however it does not reduce the female risk of contracrting HIV
