How to prevent pressure sores?
Inspect skin regularly
Protect skin (limit pressure)
Frequent re-positioning
Reduce friction
Eliminate sheer
Bed mobility Exercises?
Bridging
Rolling
Moving up & down in bed
Transitions
Why not use donut-shaped cushions with wheelchair-bound patients?
Because they concentrate the pressure to surrounding tissue.
Why not use egg-crate foam for pressure relief?
It prevents movement
what issues are there with gel for pressure relief?
More maintenance, needs adjusting regularly
