What is ‘Activity Analysis’(AA)?
A key skill used by OT’s where tasks are broken down into smaller separate tasks to be able to identify the skills & abilities needed for its completion
Why do we analyse activities?
To see if a client can complete the whole task, & if not shows us which skills they need to work on for it to be therapeutic
Map for completing an Activity Analysis’?
- Identify the task/activity
- Identify ll the steps to complete the task/activity
- Identify all the tools/materials required to complete it
- Identify the physical components for EACH step (how much ROM, strength, endurance is needed & we work on just one)
What are ‘Enabling Activities’?
Individual skills & abilities that a client does to make them strong to ENABLE them to do ADLs
eg) Theraband, Hand weight etc…
What are ‘Purposeful Activities’?
Activities that have PURPOSE in life
eg) Opening a curtain, Closing a door, Standing on tiptoes to reach
What does ‘ADL’ stand for?
Activities of Daily Living
Things we can do to change the grade, make the activity harder or easier?
- Change size/shape of objects
- Add/remove weight
- Arrange objects differently
- Change environment
