Pressure & Motion Flashcards
How do you inflate a balloon ?
The collisions between the air molecules and the balloon produce gas pressure.
What happens when you change the volume ?
When you squash a gas into a smaller volume there will more collisions between the gas molecules and the walls of the container. The pressure increases.
what happens to the speed of gas molecules when the temperature goes down ?
Fewer and less energetic collisions.
What happens to the speed of gas molecules when the temperature goes up ?
More collisions that are more energetic.
What is relative motion ?
Relative motion means how fast one thing is travelling compared to another.
What is a distance time graph ?
A distance time graph is a useful way of showing how something moves.
How do you find the average speed ?
Average speed = total distance divided by total time.
How do find the pressure ?
Pressure = Force divided by Area
What is liquid pressure ?
Liquid pressure is when you swim underwater the water exerts a pressure on you. The water molecules are pushing on each other and on surfaces, and this liquid pressure acts in all directions.
