sectional pressure groups

A

represent a relatively narrow or specific section of society often on a number of issues
eg trade unions represent specific industries but on all issues relevant to their profession

casual pressure groups

A

represents a wide cross section of society but often on single or narrowly focused issue
eg liberty is a group defending rights in the uk but which anyone is welcome to join

insider pressure groups

A

often have some link with the government giving them the ability to influence the gov directly
this might be due to being policy experts or having an ideology that aligns with with the current gov
eg both brains Johnson and kern starmer have given keynote speeches at the confederation of British industries CBI annual conference

outsider pressure groups

A

do not have any links to government and therefore have to seek alternative methods to gain influence . often these may therefore engage in high profile methods to they gain public support.
eg extinction rebellion and just stop oil carried out protests such as gluing themselves to the M25 to cause disruption and raise the profile of their groups and their aims
