Present Perfect Tense Flashcards
When do you use the perfect tense?
- when something “has” or “has not” occurred, including if the action is still happening
- in the immediate past, especially if linking phrases used e.g. esta mañana, anoche, esta semana, este mes (more used in Spain than in Latin America)
- after “ya”, meaning yet or already
You have told me before that you like music. Do you play any instrument?
Me has dicho antes que te gusta la música. ¿Tocas algún instrumento?
I’ve already done my homework.
Ya he hecho mis deberes.
He has visited Spain three times.
Ha visitado España tres veces.
Last night we went to the boardwalk.
Anoche hemos ido al paseo marítimo.
Have you seen his new film? (Informal plural)
¿Habéis visto su nueva película?
This morning they got up at eleven.
Esta mañana se han levantado a las once.
This week I have slept ten hours every day.
Esta semana he dormido diez horas todos los días.
Have you already written the song?
¿Ya has escrito la canción?
He returned to buy some blueberries.
Ha vuelto para comprar unos arándanos.
We have given him three chances.
Le hemos dado tres oportunidades.
Have you already eaten at this restaurant? (Plural informal)
¿Ya habéis comido en este restaurante?
They have put a Christmas tree in their living room.
Han puesto un árbol de Navidad en su sala de estar.
I’ve been a good friend.
He sido un buen amigo.
