diets that are marketed as intended for use to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent diseases and that are labeled to provide all or most of the animal’s total daily nutrient requirements
why do you need a prescription to get a prescription diet?
depending on the disease addressed these foods can contain levels of nutrients below what is legally allowed to be sold for a healthy pet
why are prescription diets so expensive?
because the science it takes to create them is expensive
they go through trials, monitoring, bloodwork, and tests to ensure the diet meets nutritional requirements and helps with the issue it is labeled to address
GI prescription diet
