what is the 95% rule?
at least 95% of the food has to be made with the ingredient in the name
what is the 25% rule?
at least 25% of the food has to be made with the ingredient in the name
often uses terms like dinner, meal, or entree
what is the with rule?
the ingredient listed in the name after “with…” makes up at least 3% of the food
what is the flavor rule?
if a food says it is flavored with an ingredient in the name then there doesn’t need to be a specific amount of that ingredient in the food, there just has to be enough to be detected

dog food labels have to display the percentage of crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and water since many states have regulations that requires food to have a minimum amount of nutrients
if the food lists specific guarantees (like low-fat or vitamin/ mineral supplements) then there must be a specific guarantee of the amount in the food
