Preparation To Maintain/Enhance Performance Flashcards
Quantitative data
Contains factual info and numerical values (distance travelled in metres for 12min Cooper run) - for testing hypothesis
Qualitative data
Is subjective, as it looks at feelings/opinions/emotions (formulating hypothesis)
Objective data
Based on facts and is measurable. In fitness testing, objective tests involve a measurement and are therefore more likely to be accurate (time in 30m dash)
Subjective data
Based on personal opinion, assumptions, interpretations and beliefs
Validity
When the test actually measures what it sets out to
measure (hand grip strength lacks validity for footballers because it only tests forearm strength)
Reliability
The test can be repeated accurately (extraneous variables. Did they get the same amount of sleep? Did they get a warm up?)
